Who are you?

Who are you?

Think of a Computer geek…

Think of someone who explores spirituality and believes in the law of attraction…

Think of someone who reads about quantum physics…

Think of someone who meditates…

Think of someone creative…

Think of an entrepreneur…

Think of an introvert…

Think of someone who wants to live off grid…

Think of a mother of two…

What picture leaps into your mind’s eye when you read each of the above statements? Aren’t all those pictures completely different? And yet I’m all of these.

And this is where I have struggled my whole life. You can’t put me in a box and you can’t tell anything about me from just looking at me. I don’t have the thick rimmed computer programmers’ glasses; none of my IT friends do. I don’t have braids or wear tie dye. I don’t walk around with paint in my hair.

In fact when you meet me I often appear like I’m nothing. No one. Invisible.

This is what I’ve trained myself to be. Invisible. Then no one asks much of me. No one expects anything of me. They look past me and assume I’m shy. Whereas really I can’t be bothered to try and explain who I am, and until recently I didn’t even know myself.

I think it’s because we’re all asking the wrong questions. When we meet someone, what we often ask is ‘What do you do?’, and personally I hate that because it’s a question that leads to assumptions about me. What we should ask is

Who are you?

What do you believe in?

What lights you up?

What makes you angry?

Maybe then we would get a more accurate picture of who that person actually is. And if we really do need to label someone, let’s put them under labels of ‘kind and thoughtful’, ‘trying to make a positive difference to the world’ or ‘always cheerful’. Those labels don’t hurt anyone. The labels we are often given as children stay with us throughout our lives and change what we believe about ourselves, often in a negative way.

I don’t care what you look like, what your background is, whether you’re dyslexic (like me!), or any of those things. What I believe is that you’re a melting post of your experiences and your beliefs and your pain and your positive memories, and that’s what makes you who you are…and that’s what we should all be interested in finding out.

So, when I meet someone new, really I just need to say “I’m Victoria…there is only one of me and to explain who I am would overwhelm you. There is not one label, one stereotype or one box you can place over my head. I am not what I do…I am who I am and what I believe. And I believe that we just need to find an unshakable confidence to be all that we are, to live a life which lights us up in any way we choose. I believe that labels are just a limited human way of trying to make sense of the chaos and yet I’m happy with chaos. I thrive in chaos. I am chaos!”

Who are you?!

I’ve just tentatively launched my Stronger Than Thought bracelet…tentatively because I’m still tweaking the packaging etc. It’s available at the moment for those who are quick, at an introductory offer of 50% off…and I’m offering it at this reduced price to just get some out there and into your hands, and then hopefully you’ll give me some feedback…take some photos and send them to me…and have a go at setting some intentions for yourself.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

It might be a good thing if your business ‘offer’ flops

Seriously lovely.... sometimes we can thank our lucky stars that an offer flops. This is how I am feeling after...
